In between my larger works I’ve started making small abstracts. They’re useful as creative breaks from figurative painting, but also throw up interesting shapes, perspectives and techniques that I wouldn’t otherwise discover.

I very much enjoy the artistic freedom that comes from creating a work that doesn’t have to be about or of anything.

It’s actually a thrill to know that the meaning to be found in my abstract work is only truly realised in the mind of the viewer.
